Power Rangers Mega Force: Things Are Looking Grim

The following opinions are mine and not necessarily those of anyone else (although they should be and probably are)

I have seen 3 preview clips, which amount to a total of around 2 minutes of footage of Power Rangers Mega Force, and so far, as the title of this post would suggest, things are looking grim.

The first clip showed the Red Ranger, Troy, on a bus having a dream. In said dream was The Great Legend War, or whatever they will call it here. It looked like it was the same as the Sentai version, couldn't really tell (irrelevant point anyways). After the bus driver yells at him to wake up and get off the bus I got my first glimps as to why this could be a rough season. The guy says 2 words "weird dream" and already I can't stand the guy. The delivery was so dead pan. It was like he was reading the words weird and dream for the first time.

The second clip lead to reasons 2 and 3 I'm worried. It showed Rangers Red, Blue, Black and... one of the girls, couldn't tell which one falling out of a portal and encountering a horrible looking CGI Robot (reason 2) and some horrible line delivery from our new Blue Ranger, Noah (insert Ark joke here) (reason 3). I'll start with the CGI robot. It just looks bad. Its 2013. We had a convinging looking robot on this show 20 years ago. This is just lazy. Make a costume. Its more artisitc. As for Blue Ranger? He's a third string clone of dear old Billy. Glasses, technobable, dressing like Billy did, the whole nine yards. Piss off with that shit. That's an insult to the legacy of one of the best characters this, or any other kids show for that matter has ever had. Trying to recreate Billy is pointless, stupid and does more harm than good.

The third clip showed the morphing call. Which is the classic "Its Morphing Time", at which point they put there little cards in the morpher and then "Go Go Mega Force". They also had Troy parrot a line from MMPR about how "(insert name of mentor) said morphers would give us power, so let's do it" The problem here? Troy isn't Jason. No one could ever be Jason. The way Jason used to yell "Its Morphing Time" was awesome, and no one but him could ever make that line more bad ass. The task with Power Rangers is that these actors have the near impossible task of making cheesy lines like "Its Morphing Time" or "RPM Get in Gear" sound awesome. Some can, some can't. These guys can't. Also, "Go Go Mega Force"? Phoned in much? "Go Go Samurai" wasn't great last season,  but it was better than the alternative "Rangers Together Samurai Forever". Why even have 2 calls? I think "Its Morphing Time"would have sufficed on its own.

The nostalgia in this season so far seems for like fanwakery than anything. If you want to please this fan, stop trying to recapture the MMPR magic, and give us some friggin RPM follow up.
